Rock Candy & Ginger Ale Mocktails - This fun non-alcoholic drink is perfect for your family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration!

We filled a tray up with pretty purple glasses that had just a tiny stem to let the older girls at our holiday party feel more sophisticated. Any pretty glass will work! Take it up a notch by placing a different colored or flavored rock candy swizzle stick in just one of the glasses and have a prize ready for this special guest.

I found the rock candy at a local shop but you would very likely be able to pick it up at a party supply store or online and have a ton of colors to choose from. Okay, confession, after calling the shop ahead of time I asked my husband to swing out on his lunch and pick them up—in a snow storm. Thankfully, he was happy to fulfill the request. Phew!

To lighten the sugar content of this you can use 100% pineapple juice and have a drink that is just as tasty-just without the fizz. Kids of all ages will enjoy watching the light and fluffy cotton candy instantly liquefy and disappear into the soda as it is poured into the glasses.

My niece and nephew love these!

We were able to easily find the cotton candy at a party supply store, it came with different colors in the package so you can create different color and flavor combinations for these special guests. You can also try your local grocery store (especially if making something along these lines in the summer months).

We picked up the pineapple soda in the international aisle at our grocery story, they have some great unique flavors to choose from!

Hope you love this fun mocktail for kids—happy New Year!

In my last post, I mentioned that I was working to get my skin ready for holiday photos! I’m really excited because I found a great tool online from Photobucket and Olay that allowed me to create this adorable holiday card in just minutes, for free! I’m so excited to have these printed.

969d1c33-2949-440e-9c3d-f13869839438

The photo tool allowed me to easily upload my favorite family shot, and I was even able to add some fun and festive borders and text overlays. This is in addition to being able to perform minor edits on the photo like brightness, contrast and color correcting.

Luckily, I didn’t have to do too many edits since my skin looked flawless on this day! I have to give some props to Olay for that.

It’s funny, because it seems like if it can go wrong during a holiday photo session, it will. The kids will be unruly, the weather will fizzle and it will be the one day of the month you accidentally oversleep and get a crazy-late start on your day. Honestly, though, none of that really matters in the end. What is important is capturing that moment—that fleeting moment with your family that represents everything beautiful and chaotic about your life.

Thanks to Olay Regenenerist, I had one part of our holiday photo session completely under control, and that was my skin. It has really been glowing since I’ve started using the Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser. I really feel like this product, in particular, is helping reveal beautiful skin.

So, we have these super-adorable holiday cards now. I’m excited to send them out to our friends and family! Be sure to check out the amazing Olay photo tool on Photobucket to make your unique holiday card. It’s really so simple to use, and fun, too! Oh, and you can even share your cards with your loved ones via social media which is always so fun.

I found myself creating different versions of our cards for more than an hour.

Happy holidays from our family to yours!

Olay Regenerist is an important part of my get ready routine and helps me look and feel my best beautiful! Visit Olay.com for more information on their full line of products.

Have a beautiful holiday with Olay Regenerist

I’ve been a skin care junkie since I was a teen, but now that I’m in my 30’s and starting to show some signs of age, I take my skin care routine pretty seriously—especially around the holidays when my friends and family have their cameras and cell phones in hand, ready to take photos of me and my family!

We’re also preparing to have some holiday photos taken. We’ve never had professional holiday photos shot, so I’m pretty excited!

christmas10b

Because my skin requires some TLC during the colder fall and winter months, I’m always looking for a good routine that includes products that will help nourish and pamper my skin while also minimizing those fine lines around my eyes. I’ve been SO thrilled to try the Olay Regenerist line all month and I’ve been pretty blown away by the results. I also love knowing that my skin is going to glow in those Christmas photos!

I start my routine with this incredible Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser. It gently exfoliates to speed skin cells’ natural regeneration process with Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser, and deep cleans as it smoothes skin’s surface with gentle exfoliants. I love the soft, delicate scent and I find that it really leaves my skin fresh and clean.

Have a beautiful holiday with Olay Regenerist

Next I use the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream in key areas of my face including my brow area (and between my eyes where I’m seeing a little crease appear), along my jaw line and around my mouth. This cream has same luxurious feel you’ve come to expect from America’s #1 selling anti-aging moisturizer.

Have a beautiful holiday with Olay Regenerist

My favorite product of the bunch and the one that I think really helps plump-up my skin and give it radiance for those holiday photos is the Regenerist Night Recovery Cream. Its advanced amino Peptide complex and super-hydrating formula penetrates 10 surface layers deep to regenerate surface skin overnight. My skin just looks dewy and healthy when I wake up after using this product.

Have a beautiful holiday with Olay Regenerist

Finally, the product that is probably doing much of the heavy lifting on my face is the Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum. It can soften the appearance of crow’s feet in just 2 weeks, and the advanced Amino Peptide Complex renews skin’s surface layers to instantly brighten the look of your overall eye area. I can definitely see firmness happening around my eyes—a definite plus for looking happy and awake in those holiday snaps!

Have a beautiful holiday with Olay Regenerist

So far, I’m really loving the Olay Regenerist products and can see a visible change in the way my skin looks. Of course, bright and youthful looking skin makes me feel more confident. I feel like my skin is going to be fresh and beautiful for our upcoming holiday photos.

Olay Regenerist is an important part of my get ready routine and helps me look and feel my best beautiful! Visit Olay.com for more information on their full line of products.

Most of you probably know that I’m a Tommee Tippee brand ambassador, and post about their products quite often on my other blog. For a long time, I really associated Tommee Tippee with products for infants.

It’s true, Tommee Tippee carries a wonderful line of infant feeding and soothing products (I adore their pacifiers and bottles), but, I’ve also grown to love some of their toddler offerings as well. In fact, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite Tommee Tippee items for toddlers below! A few of them are absolute MUST-HAVES!

Section Plates

These are seriously the best plates, ever! They have nice deep compartments and they’re super durable.

Truly Spill Proof Sporty Water Bottle

Kara always loves drinking from my sport water bottles, so, I got her one of her own! The best part, no matter how many times it gets dropped or kicked around, I never have to deal with leaks. This is a wonderful little cup. Plus, how cute?

Easi-Roll Bib

Even after mastering (for the most part) eating like a big girl, Kara still manages to make quite a mess. This great bib has a pocket to catch all the “extras,” plus, it’s super easy to clean.

Truly Spill Proof Straw Cup

Okay, so, Evan is officially NOT a toddler anymore. That said, I still like to give him a sippy-style cup when we’re on the go, because it’s just easier and less fuss. This Truly Spill Proof Straw cup is a good compromise, because it feels like a “big boy” cup to him thanks to the flip top and straw, but, it saves me from having to clean up spills.

See what I mean? Tommee Tippee has so many great products for older kids. I can’t recommend the items highlighted above enough, they’re all wonderful! For more Instagram fun, be sure you’re following me @dearcrissy and @tommeetippee_na.

How to Save Money on Halloween Costumes - Great money-saving tips that will help you find or make the best Halloween costumes on a budget!

Halloween costumes can be pretty pricey. Even a simple costume can cost between twenty and thirty dollars, and when you have to buy costumes for multiple kids, the cost can quickly add up. If your child wants the extra accessories or candy bags, you’re talking even more cash out of your pocket!

Even though Halloween costumes are generally expensive, there are ways to save a little money. Here are a few tips you can use to help save money this Halloween on costumes.

DIY

A great way to save money and get the perfect costume is to make one yourself! You can use multi-purpose clothing to create the main part of your costume. For example, you can use black pants and a shirt for a boy’s Batman costume. Complete the ensemble by making the accessories yourself. If you’re not very crafty, you can even buy the accessories from the store since you’ve already saved money on the main part of the costume!

Hand-Me-Downs

A great way to save on costumes from year to year is to make use of those hand-me-downs. If you have multiple children, you can reuse costumes from child to child. If you only have one child or if your children have different interests, you can try to find hand-me-downs from friends and family or from resale stores.

Look Online

If you want to save money on costumes, sometimes you have to think outside of the retail box. Instead of heading to the costume store or retail store, try finding costumes for sale online. Sites like Amazon and eBay all offer new costumes for a fraction of the retail price. You can even get these costumes shipped to you free of charge with some sellers!

Skip the Accessories

Although costumes are expensive, accessories can really add to the cost. You can help save on Halloween costs by skipping accessories whenever possible. For example, if your daughter wants to be a mermaid, don’t pay extra for a long wig. Get creative with making her own hair look like a mermaid’s by pinning in small seashells.

Buy Them Out of Season

After Halloween is over, stores start selling costumes at a huge discount! You can sometimes find costumes up to 80% off, which is a huge price reduction. Plan ahead for next year’s costumes by buying them out of season. Estimate what size your children will be in and pick out something you know they’ll enjoy. You’ll be amazed at how much you save!
