My Moment of Truth

This post is sponsored by e.p.t., opinions are my own.

Did you know that 8 out of 10 women first learned they were pregnant from a home pregnancy test?

There is something surreal about taking a pregnancy test.

For me, I felt a mix of hope, fear and nervous energy. It almost seems impossible that we have the power to pee on a stick and then find the answer to that big question.

Am I pregnant?

I found myself taking my first pregnancy test just a few weeks after my husband and I decided to try for a baby. I was taking the test more out of curiosity, and after everything I had heard about how long it can take some couples to become pregnant, I didn’t really think it would happen the first try.

In fact, I knew that it wouldn’t happen the first try. My mom always told me that it took her almost a year to get pregnant with me.

But, I had a couple e.p.t. pregnancy tests, and I thought I’d start practicing.

When I saw the test come up positive, I nearly fell off the toilet.

I was so bewildered by what I saw that I ended up taking the other pregnancy test that I had on hand, and then I drove into town and bought six more. Yes, SIX MORE.

Each and every test gave me the same result, but I was in such a state of disbelief that I actually went to my doctor for a blood test the next day. When I think back on this now, it makes me laugh. I just couldn’t believe that I was pregnant.

It took a few weeks for the shock to wear off the joy to set in. My husband and I were thrilled to be starting a new chapter in our lives, and I can’t help but smile when I think about how it all started with that moment of truth.

Plus six more moments of truth and a blood test. HA!
