Fight For Your Write
Writing is pretty important to me. As a child I wrote short stories and stapled them together to make books that I sold to my family for $25 a piece. As a teen, my love of reading blossomed which further sparked my desire to become a writer. I even earned a degree in English with goals of becoming a writer someday.
Now that I am 35-years-old and make my living writing (high five), I am really invested in showing my children how important it is to write and to dream and to be creative individuals. That’s why I love BIC’s Fight For Your Write campaign!
When you visit BICFightForYourWrite.com and take the pledge to save handwriting you will also be entered to win a $1,200 BIC Prize Pack. Sure, prizes are awesome, but think about how important it is to show our kids the value of handwriting.
I want my kids to have the same love of writing that I had growing up. In spite of the television and the devices and the internet, I don’t want them to lose that passion for what a pen and paper can do. A pen and paper can transform.
Writing also builds confidence, improves cognitive development and even helps kids perform better in school.
For me, it all comes down to creativity. I want to nurture my children’s creativity and I know that writing is a big part of that.
I encourage you to take the BIC Fight For Your Write Pledge today, and then sit down with your kids with a pen, some paper and your imaginations. Write stories, doodle, write your hopes and dreams and wishes and watch that creativity and love for writing grow. It’s a beautiful thing!
